Is there a place for sex in
games?
I'll just let this speak for itself.
The interactions with prostitutes are completely optional, just like in real life. The game is rated M and anyone buying the game has to know what they are getting themselves into. This is one small sliver of the content available to players of GTA4.
Having said that, here is my question to those who are having violent and negative reactions to this sort of thing: What about it bothers you? Is there a place for this sort of content in any game?
Sure, we don't want every game we play to be a virtual brothel simulator (I wouldn't mind one or two of them though), but I'm sure most of us are perfectly fine with it being a part of some of the worlds we visit.
As a side note: If what bothers you about this sort of thing is that there are no consequences, how do you deal with the things you do in your dreams?
Share your reaction to the video with us. The inclusion of more sex related content seems to be a topic that isn't theorycrafting anymore.

In a utopia, where only the ones mature enough to play this game can get it, I think this content is okay. It is a mature game for mature audiences, and thus should have no rating different than a movie. In fact, it does. If the game were to be a movie, it would've received an MPAA 'R' rating, meaning 17+. An ESRB 'M' rating is 17+. However, if the game were to be rated only on sexual content, it would be a 'PG-13' rating...There is no nudity whatsoever, there is only "sexual content."
For the one poster arguing on the point of the degradation of women, that point is completely moot. That point is like being disgusted at the world because there are strippers or porn stars in it. One just can't think like that. One can't generalize that Rockstar's sole focus in adding prostitution was to degrade women. Also, it's not as if the prostitutes are the only examples of women you interact with. Niko also meets Michelle, his girlfriend. He takes her out on dates and treats her well.
For the poster of this quote: "When I think of video games, I think of 007 or Mario Bros, not some perverted form of porn," I must say that your point is also moot. A movie analogy would be good here: When you think of movies, do you also think of Shrek and Horton Hears a Who? Or do you think of the whole spectrum, including Crank, 300, and every PG-13+ movie out there? Not every movie is rated 'G' or 'PG', just like not every game is rated 'E'.
Just my 2 cents...Well, 6 cents.
