Playstation Day 2008: This better be true.

That, right there, better be exactly how the gameplay works.

For fans of the phenomenon known as parkour, a sport which has participants free-running over every conceivable obstacle, you might want to watch the video above.

"Mirror's Edge" is a new IP being developed by EA-owned DICE studios. The game looks to turn the first-person shooter on its head, incorporating elements of parkour into core gameplay mechanics. Still scratching your head?

Imagine "Assassin's Creed," but played with a first-person perspective.

Now, despite my enthusiasm above, I am still a bit skeptical. EA has disappointed me before with "Army of Two," another highly-touted fresh IP. Not to mention that first look videos rarely reflect actual gameplay.

But the 20-something in me just won't stop screaming like a school girl.

I had seen another (maybe same?) game for parkour and it was NEVER released (AFAIK). I am consistently disappointed by EA, so if this game turns out to be a flop I won't be surprised one bit.

On a less negative, more enjoyable note... I think a game, especially a FPS developed around actual parkour moves would be very awesome. That one video with David Belle beating up/running away from french thugs is exactly the type of game I would like to play. Maybe combine that sort of movement with a Jet Li fighting style and that would stand to be an interesting game.

Reminds me a bit too much of the Mark Ecko game a while back, Getting Up I think it was called. Higher res graphics are nice, but there'd better be a decent story. Yes, folks, this is what Lara Croft sees when you play her.

Parcour?

Reminds me of custom FarCry obstacle maps. Had a lot of fun building and playing those :)

The city looks pretty, but the heavy breathing was kinda distractive.
Also the girls make-up was a little bit freaky.
I await the story for this one.

thats awesome, they should get deeper into the world of parkour, I cant do half the shit they do, but running around on roof tops is fun especially when you have to find your way up

My concern? I've hated jumping puzzles since the first time they showed up and this just seems to be the height of such evil. However, if this was less "can you constantly balance your dude on a beam as you run" and a lot more about constant motion and environmental interaction, I could be turned into a believer.

this game looks terribly boring... another throwaway title trying to cash in on a flash in the pan fad

If you guys want realism then go learn parkour and do it yourself. It's a fucking video game, and it looks PYMP!

i dont care about playing as a girl character... but i havnt seen ANY girls do ANY parkour... so yeah, thats how its unrealistic to me hah

I just posted, but upon reading the comments realized that my comment mimicked the first person to comment. I did not read their comment first... that is two independent people that find the animations unrealistic and forced.

this game looks poor to me... sliding on the lines showing your feet in front of you is not very realistic.... seems they are attempting to immerse you further through unrealistic character movements.... those things make it much more unrealistic....

Just because you haven't seen your feet in 20 years doesn't mean other people haven't. You fat fuck.

You have to pull your legs up to keep your mass centered. After performing a quick test, it was obvious that your legs will be visible if you are balanced on a zip line and looking down at a slight angle relative to gravity. Maybe your physical intuition has been messed up by floating head shooters? Anyway, this game seems like it will either be a gem or a flop, which is always the way it is with innovative game mechanics. Will keep an eye on it.

This is coming from DICE, the makers of the Battlefield series.

to bad EA sucks at everything they do and this game even if it plays exactly like that will suck. You wana know why, because EA spent to much time on sports game and now has no idea how to use all the buttons controllers come with. Also the AI will be mentally challenged. EA is garbage

Pachter slaps E3
I think E3 should be allowed to die, and not dragged out every year like the geriatric octogenarian patriarch at family Christmases. We have other shows, and the sterilisation of E3 has rendered it embarrassing and practically useless. It was never meant to be a corporate conference, but a celebration of all things game. It is no longer the party it used to be and the booth babes have moved on to younger, fitter models. Consign it to the history books and let us remember it as it used to be. -- mandrill

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom trailer
WHAT?! WHAT is with Capcom and this DBZ Budokai/tenkaichi/burst limit style thing now? Omfg... after this and SF4, Guilty gear and SNK are going to be, like, the last /true/ 2d fighters. which hurts my soul. -- TSC

It's offical, the end has come
Just when I get used to saying "Actiblizzion" now I have to insert Vivendi in there? I guess its going to be: "Activivendibizzion" -- Dylan
